World Kidney Day

In celebration of World Kidney Day, the students of Lisie College of Allied Health Sciences dedicated three days to raising awareness about kidney health. Throughout the event, various activities were organized to educate the public on preventing kidney diseases.The first day featured a video explaining the dietary needs of kidney failure patients, while the second day showcased an animated video highlighting steps for maintaining kidney health. On the third day, the significance of hydration for kidney health was emphasized. To engage the students, STILLMODEL and poster competitions were held to underscore the importance of World Kidney Day. Students disseminated information about kidney diseases through these mediums. Additionally, students and teachers, including Rev. Fr. Devis Padanakkal and Principal Dr. Shabeer S Iqbal, left their handprints to symbolize their commitment to raising awareness. Official events conducted on March 14, beginning with a prayer song and welcome address by Miss Elsa David. The program was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jetto Thottungal, with Dr. Jose P Paul launching a video produced by dialysis students. Dr. Babu Fransis (Medical Superintendent, HOD-Senior Consultant, Department of Nephrology) and Dr. Jayanth Thomas (Senior Consultant, Department of Nephrology) were honored during the event, with prizes distributed for the poster and still model competitions. The amount collected from students, faculty, and staff from LCOAHS for dialysis patients has been handed over to Sr. Mercitta, the dialysis incharge. Dr. Jayanth Thomas conducted an awareness class on kidney health, followed by a flash mob at 11:30 a.m. led by DDT students. Later in the day, at 3:00 p.m., dialysis students staged another flash mob at Marine Drive to further highlight the significance of World Kidney Day to the public.
